Graffiti is one of the most common types of vandalism. It makes people think that their neighborhood has a lot of gang activity but really only about 10% of graffiti are from gangs. 80% of graffiti are from taggers. Graffiti also costs a lot to clean up. It cost taxpayers 1-3$ per year. In a 2006 survey, 2 cities in Los Angeles county, the cost of removal was $28 million.
If there is graffiti it is good to have it removed at least 24 hours after its done. It will discoruge people from putting graffiti there. Also schools should give rewards for helping find the people that graffiti. Giving rewards to the students might encoutage them to report the people vandalising the school.
